The Festival of Science and Curiosity takes place from 5–16 February 2024 across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

In Broxtowe the following events are scheduled:
- Monday, 12 February – Habitat Nature Walk, Bennerley Viaduct, 2pm-3pm. Join a fun interactive tour for families to explore the above and below of Bennerley Viaduct. See the natural wonders hiding in this ex-coalfield site. Learn about the ways they are helping nature rewild, hunt for bugs, identify plants, play fun sensory games, and enjoy a walk together outdoors. Pre-booking required. Age 5-12 recommended. Adults and younger children welcome to accompany. Walk is approximately 1 mile with some steps and uneven ground.
- Tuesday, 13 February – Habitat Nature Walk: Hands-on Nature, Bennerley Viaduct 10:30am-12pm and 3pm-4:30pm. Join a fun interactive tour for families to explore the above and below of Bennerley Viaduct. See the natural wonders hiding in this ex-coalfield site. - Wednesday, 14 February – The Wonderful World of Paper, Toton Library, 11am-12:30pm and 2:30pm-4pm. Join University of Nottingham scientist and researcher Dr Pearl Agyakwa to explore the wonderful world of paper through creative activities. In this workshop, you will explore paper in all its glory through a range of activities from watercolour painting, sound experiments and using microscopes. Since it is also Valentine’s Day, you will get crafty with paper to make a special gift for a loved one.
- Wednesday, 14 February – Wind Turbine Workshop, DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum,Eastwood, 10am-10:45am, 11am-11:45am, 1pm-1:45pm, 2pm-2:45pm and 3-3:45pm. Build your own wind turbine to power a light or raise a lift in this workshop exploring the future of energy.
- Wednesday, 14 February – Egg Drop Challenge, Bennerley Viaduct, 11am-3pm. Protect the egg! Bennerley Viaduct stands 20 metres above the beautiful Erewash Valley. But would an egg survive the drop? Only one way to find out! Flex your scientific skills and create the best parachute to save your egg! Most suitable for ages 5-13, but all welcome. Free, but donations of £3 to cover materials are appreciated. Booking advised.
- Thursday, 15 February – Habitat Nature Walk: Hands-on Nature, Bennerley Viaduct, 10:30am-12pm and 3pm-4:30pm. What lives under the bridge? Who’s eating who? Learn about food webs and what we can do to encourage nature to flourish. Explore the nature reserve and the rewilding project in the Erewash Valley. The walk includes hands-on bug hotel making. Suitable for ages 5-12. Sturdy shoes or wellies and warm clothes. Free but donations of £3 to cover materials are appreciated.
