Covid-19 is still here and people that are immunosuppressed continue to be among those at highest risk of getting seriously ill from Covid-19, due to a reduced ability to fight infections and other diseases.
In line with advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), people aged 5 years and over with a weakened immune system, people aged 75 years and older and all residents in care homes for older adults will be offered an additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccination this spring.
This will top up their immunity and maintain protection from severe Covid-19.
If you or someone you know is eligible, they will be invited by the NHS to book a vaccination appointment.
This can be booked through the NHS website or by calling 119. It is also possible to get a dose of the Covid-19 vaccine from a walk-in site without an appointment.
You can find your nearest walk-in site on the NHS website.
Eligible individuals will be offered the vaccine around six months after their previous dose but can have it from three months after.
Spring Covid-19 vaccination delivery began from 17 April 2023, with the national booking system open from 5 April 2023.
More information on Covid-19 vaccinations can be found on this NHS weblink.
