‘We come from’ poem
A group of young people, who at the time were receiving support from CAMHS, came together to share their experiences of being in care, in the form of a poem.
Coming from a variety of care backgrounds, including foster care, special guardianship orders and local authority care, these young people created a poem called ‘We come from’ about their experiences. They were supported by Andy Craven-Griffith, a talented Leicester poet during a ‘my voice’ poetry event.
Drawing on their own experiences, the group poured their hearts into creating a powerful poem that represents their lives and stories. They wanted to share this poem with you, to share the experiences of young people involved in the care system and how they want to be seen, heard and treated by those that support them.
