6 ways to learn new words
Think of a picture that reminds you of the new word and draw it in the middle of a piece of paper.
Then think about what the word means. What type of word is it – a noun, a verb, an adjective?
Ask yourself if there’s an easier word you can use or another word that means the same thing.
If you are using a laptop, computer, tablet or phone, you could visit thesaurus.com for ideas. Write those down.
Which subject did you learn it in?
How many syllables does the word have? Does it rhyme with anything? What is the first sound? Jot down these memory prompts.
Finally, try to use the word in a sentence.
