Low Mood: Sarah’s Story

Sarah has recently been finding it hard to sleep during night, which has impacted on her mood in the morning making her feel irritable and tired. She finds it hard to concentrate in class and is struggling to understand the work.

Friends are also pressuring her to go out during the evening; but Sarah’s feelings mean she lacks motivation to socialise. She tries to avoid going out and makes excuses.

Sarah sometimes feels distressed but feels she can’t share her problems with her mum so starts to spend time alone in her room. Often over thinks and worries about what others thought of her. All this leads to a negative perception of reality.

You may be able to relate to Sarah. In similar situations there are ways to manage and overcome these difficult feelings.
